John Sebastiano Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills AVASanta Barbara County

John Sebastiano Vineyard is one of the latest and most exciting vineyards planted in Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Planted on a hillside along the extreme eastern edge of the appellation, this vineyard is host to a variety of microclimates all driven by maritime influences.   The soils here are clay-loam underlain by limestone and vary greatly in depth due to the nature of the slopes and swales of the vineyard.

We source our Wente clone Chardonnay from two blocks of the vineyard.  These blocks are east facing and spend each morning covered with a marine layer of fog.  The midday sun burns of the fog to fully ripen the fruit while retaining its strong acid backbone.
