Alder Springs Vineyard, LaytonvilleMendocino County
Located 12 miles east of the Pacific Ocean, this 6,000 acre ranch has 140 acres of hillside vineyards planted ranging from 1,750 – 2,700 feet above sea level. Alder Springs was first planted in 1993 with incredibly high density vine spacing in the effort to produce grapes with focus and intensity, which was unique for the times.
This vineyard is known for its tiny berries with powerful concentration resulting in dark, inky wines. Warm days with bright sun, cold nights and rocky soils provide near perfect growing conditions which is why this vineyard is known for producing world class Syrah.
