This wine is affectionately named for the winemakers chatty, Rosé loving wife Brooke.  In keeping with the fish theme, the winery designed a label with a stylized “Brook Trout” front and center.

Vineyard:

The 2022 Babbling Brook comes from the Kimsey Vineyard in the Ballard Canyon AVA of Santa Barbara County,

Varietal Composition:

50% Syrah, 50% Grenache

Ageing:

4 months in 100% Neutral French Oak

Winemaking:

The handpicked grapes were harvested early in the morning while still cool and trucked up to the winery in Windsor for processing.  The fruit was sorted, destemmed and gently crushed with the juice left to soak on its skins in tank for approximately 30 minutes to infuse color before being moved to neutral French oak barrels for fermentation.  Some barrels were inoculated with yeast while others with left to complete primary fermentation on their own. After fermentation was complete the wine was allowed to go through partial Malolactic fermentation for added mouthfeel and complexity.  The wine remained on its lees until just before being bottled in Mid-February 2023.

Tasting Notes:

The 2022 Babbling Brook Rosé was fermented and aged sur-lie in neutral French Oak barrels giving the wine a round and slippery texture.  The color is pale copper with a salty lanolin like nose. The palate is clean with flavors of watermelon, peach, and stone.  Enjoy our Rosé slightly under cellar temperature for maximum complexity, or chilled on a hot summer day!
