Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 Napa Valley - Stringer Cellars

Reviews

96 points - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW
The single-varietal 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard, tasted as a barrel sample, is deep garnet-purple in color. The nose slowly unfurls to offer profound notions of creme de cassis, stewed black plums, and boysenberry preserves, leading to suggestions of licorice, cedar chest, sandalwood, and fallen leaves. The concentrated, full-bodied palate is packed with black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, supported by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and opulent.

94+ points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Appreciably darker in hue than Stringer's valley-floor offerings, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard is from a block planted to Clone 337. Aged in 80% new French oak, it nevertheless doesn't seem overly oaky, with the dark waves of cassis and black cherries dominating the nose, picking up hints of licorice along the way. It's unabashedly full-bodied (15.1% alcohol on the label), yet it doesn't seem hot, buffered by ample extract and ripe tannins. With this level of concentration, it should age well.

93 points - James Suckling
Ripe purple fruit character with vanilla, licorice, pine wood and moist earth on offer. Firm and chalky with medium to full body and a succulent mid-palate. Tannins are compact and structured. Long finish.

1,800 feet above the valley floor in the eastern Vaca Mountains of Napa Valley lies the famed Stagecoach Vineyard.  Stagecoach Vineyard extends from the Atlas Peak AVA all the way north to the Pritchard Hill region.  Our Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet is from Block C3A in the Pritchard Hill region of the vineyard and is planted to Clone 337.  This region of Napa is characterized by red, volcanic rock and large diurnal shifts which are ideal for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon.
