Linda Vista Vineyard Chardonnay 2018
Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley—CA
Vineyards:
Linda Vista Vineyard is in the western part of the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, an area historically known for award winning Chardonnay. This location benefits from cool coastal breezes snaking their way off of the San Pablo Bay, to provide bright acidity, while the inland sun teases out flavorful ripeness.
Winemaking:
The hand-picked fruit was sorted and then gently crushed before being pressed. The juice cold settled overnight then transferred to a combination of new 500 Liter puncheons and neutral barrels for fermentation. The juice was inoculated with a combination of yeasts for complexity. After the primary fermentation was complete the wine was moved to cold storage where it slowly finished malolactic fermentation. Aging was done over 12 months sur less, without battonage.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose tropical fruit flows into the kitchen for fresh-baked golden-delicious apple pie with a hint of key lime. Upon first sip you are greeted with a pop of bright acid then the edges rounded with a hint of pineapple upside down cake and a finish kissed with minerality. The wine displays both elegance and balance.
